On March 20, 2025, under the leadership of Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched the Chemical Contaminants Transparency (CCT) Tool, a groundbreaking database providing clear, accessible information on contaminants found in the U.S. food supply.
Secretary Kennedy emphasized the importance of transparency and consumer safety, stating:
“HHS is committed to radical transparency to give Americans authentic, informed consent about what they are eating. This new Chemical Contaminants Transparency Tool is a critical step for industry to Make America Healthy Again.”
The database compiles critical information such as tolerance, action, and guidance levels for various contaminants, assisting both consumers and the industry in better understanding potential health risks associated with chemical contaminants in food. This initiative is part of broader efforts by the FDA and HHS to modernize and reinforce food safety measures, aiming to empower consumers through transparency.
